Ingredients

Strawberry Dole Whip
  • 2 cup frozen strawberries Use frozen strawberries for the creamy soft-serve texture.
  • 0.5 cup coconut cream or vanilla ice cream For dairy-free, use coconut cream; for a classic dairy option, use vanilla ice cream.
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar or honey Choose one based on your sweetness preference.
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice Adds brightness and balances the sweetness.
  • 0.25 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.125 tsp salt A small amount enhances fruit flavor.

Equipment

  • 1 blender

Method

Soften the strawberries
  1. Let 2 cups frozen strawberries sit at room temperature for 5 minutes to slightly soften, until they look a bit less icy.
Blend into soft serve
  1. Add the softened strawberries and coconut cream or vanilla ice cream to a blender, then blend until very smooth.
  2. Add powdered sugar or honey, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and salt, then blend again until completely smooth and creamy with no visible strawberry chunks.
Taste, pipe, and serve
  1. Taste the mixture and adjust sweetness by blending in a little more powdered sugar or honey if needed.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip and pipe into cups for the classic Dole Whip swirl.
  3. Serve immediately, since it will melt quickly, then finish with any optional fresh fruit garnish if desired.

Notes

For the smoothest texture, blend continuously long enough that the mixture looks glossy and uniform, not speckled. Store any leftovers covered in the freezer for up to 1–2 days, but expect a firmer texture on thawing; thaw briefly and reblend only if needed (best fresh). Freezing is not ideal for pipe-and-serve quality—make right before serving. If you want a lower-sugar option, replace the powdered sugar with honey in the same amount and add extra lemon juice to keep the flavor bright.
