Make the cranberry BBQ sauce
- Whisk jellied cranberry sauce, BBQ sauce, sriracha, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, and chipotle chili powder in the slow cooker until smooth, with no visible cranberry lumps.
- Add frozen fully cooked meatballs and stir to coat so the sauce clings evenly to the outside.
Slow cook
- Cover and cook on LOW for 3-4 hours or HIGH for 2 hours, stirring once halfway to prevent sticking and ensure even warming.
- When done, stir until the sauce is thick and glossy and the meatballs are fully heated through with a uniform red color.
Garnish and serve
- Top the meatballs with thinly sliced jalapeno and chopped fresh parsley, then keep on WARM so the sauce stays thick and pourable for serving.
- Serve hot with toothpicks, letting the sauce drip slightly from the meatballs for a shiny finish.
Notes
Pro tip: if the sauce seems thin at the end, keep the slow cooker on WARM and stir a few times until it turns glossy. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 4 days; reheat in the slow cooker on LOW until hot. Freezing is not recommended because the cranberry sauce can lose texture after thawing. For a lower-sugar option, use a reduced-sugar BBQ sauce and keep the cranberry sauce as written for the signature thick, tangy coating.
